Live UPDATE Page - National strike action at bpost since late March

Several strike actions have broken out at bpost throughout the country since the end of March. These actions were initially limited to regions in Wallonia but have since spread to several regions and distribution centres across the country.

These actions may have consequences for the dispatch and delivery of your parcels: even though we still continue to dispatch and offer parcels on time at bpost, their effective sorting and delivery at bpost may take longer because not all distribution centres in the country are (fully) operational at the moment.

We are obviously extremely disappointed about this state of affairs and the impact it has on you as the recipient of our parcels. Unfortunately, we ourselves have no influence on these actions and their further course. On this page we share the updates as we receive them from bpost.

UPDATE 30/04/2026

Dear customer,

We would like to inform you about recent developments in our service.

As of Monday 4 May, all temporary measures have been lifted. This means that our services can resume as usual.

From that date we will again accept national parcel injections. This resumption will be combined with the further elimination of the accumulated backlog so that we can once again move towards stable and predictable operations.

Also for communication campaigns with door-to-door advertising (ZZA) and Direct Mail, all campaigns are again possible nationally, including in regions where this was temporarily not the case before.

Our teams remain fully committed to carefully manage the restart and further normalise services.

We will keep you further informed.

Best regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 28/04/2026

Dear customer,

We would like to give you an update on the restart of our activities within the Bpost network.

This week our focus is on the parcels that are currently still with you or on our sites and waiting to be processed. Our teams are putting maximum effort into this in order to clear these volumes and get the parcels flowing smoothly again.

The resumption of our services is phased. Pick-up of shipments (collect) is now taking place almost everywhere in Belgium. In the coming days, we will communicate additional guidelines to further support this resumption.

We thank you for your patience and will keep you further informed of the next steps.

Kind regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 27/04/2026

Dear customer,

We would like to give you an update on the restart of our activities within the Bpost network.

In the meantime, the number of blockades within our network has significantly decreased in Wallonia and Brussels, which makes it possible to restart operations at several locations: shipments are being processed and delivered and the collection of shipments is also being reorganised.

We are doing everything possible to clear the backlog and restore our services as soon as possible. Our teams are currently working intensively to rebuild capacity and gradually process accumulated volumes.

The restart of our services is taking place step by step. In the coming days, we will communicate additional guidelines to further support this resumption.

We thank you for your patience and will continue to keep you informed of the next steps.

Best regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 24/04/2026

Dear customer,

Social actions are still taking place within Bpost today, including in Brussels, which unfortunately has a continuing impact on our services.
Consultations with the social partners will continue next week as well. In most places, including Wallonia, we are seeing shipments being processed and delivered again. We continue to make every effort to prepare for a gradual normalisation as soon as conditions allow.
As soon as there are new relevant and confirmed developments, we will inform you further.

Best regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 22/04/2026

Dear customer,

Following the consultation between union and management on Monday, at present the consultation of the base by union members is still ongoing.

As a result, there are still local social actions within the Bpost network today, which unfortunately still has an impact on our services. The measures currently in place remain in force for the time being.

Our teams are closely monitoring the situation and making adjustments where possible to continue to ensure maximum sorting and delivery of shipments, within the limits allowed by the current context. As soon as there are new relevant developments, we will inform you further.

Best regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 21/04/2026

Dear customer,

Currently, we are unfortunately still facing social actions within the Bpost network. At the same time, another step in the social dialogue was taken yesterday, and we are making every effort to reach a solution.

In the meantime, the current measures remain in place for the time being.

Our teams are monitoring the situation on a daily basis and continue to deploy the available capacity in the most focused way possible to limit the impact on your activities. As soon as there are new developments, we will inform you immediately.

Kind regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 20/04/2026

Dear customer,

We would like to inform you of the current state of affairs.
At the moment, social actions are still taking place, both in sorting and in distribution, which unfortunately still has an impact on our services. Meanwhile, consultations with the social partners continue unabated, with the aim of reaching a supported solution as soon as possible.

In the past period, progress was made and consensus was reached on the key points of the transformation plan. At the same time, additional alignments are still needed, as well as the formal approval of the proposals by all parties involved.

We remain fully committed to processing and issuing your shipments on time. Our teams monitor the operational situation daily per site and per product flow and continuously adjust the deployment of available capacity to continue serving you in the best possible way.

The measures currently in force remain applicable. For parcels, nothing will change. For letter mail, if you no longer have blue bins, you may also deliver your consignments via alternative forms such as cardboard boxes or bundles.

We realise that this situation requires flexibility from you and sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding.

We will continue to actively inform you as soon as there are relevant new developments.

Best regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 17/04/2026

Dear customer,

An important step forward was made yesterday in the social dialogue: Bpost and the unions have a consensus on a number of key points for the further implementation of the transformation plan. This proposal is currently being submitted to the unions' constituencies and is therefore not yet final.

We will keep the current operational measures for parcels in force until there is clarity on the resumption of our operations. Our aim is to return to normal service as soon as conditions allow.

We understand that you want to redeliver your volumes as soon as possible. At the same time, we want to be transparent about this and inform you correctly about the current situation.

We will keep you further informed.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Kind regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 14/04/2026

Dear customer,

As a follow-up to our communication of last week, we share with you an update on the current impact of the union actions. These actions are part of the transformation Bpost is making to its distribution network to better respond to changing shipment volumes and customer expectations. The actions continue to have an impact on our distribution and sorting activities, as a result of which the operational measures previously taken remain in place for the time being.

Injections are only possible in Antwerp (AX) for existing customers or for customers who can pre-sort their shipments to Flandersfor the time being .

Within the current operational capabilities, return parcels will again be collected at Pakjes- en Postpunten in Flanders and Brussels, again allowing smoother processing of returns. The other collect activities are running as smoothly as possible in Flanders. In Brussels, collect also remains possible, where the service is locally assured.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to inform you of further developments. We are aware of the impact this situation has on your operations.

Kind regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 10/04/2026

Dear customer,

We hereby give you a brief, operational update on the ongoing union actions in the context of the transformation of the Bpost distribution network.

The trade union actions, linked to our transformation, do not only affect distribution: they are now also being felt in our sorting activities. Our sorting centres in Brussels (BX) and Charleroi (CX) are impacted, affecting the processing and flow of shipments.

In addition, there will be a national strike day on Monday 13 April, called for by the federal government departments.

Within this context, the current agreements will remain in force until Tuesday. In concrete terms, this means that injections are only possible in Antwerp (AX) for the time being, and only for customers who traditionally inject there or who can pre-sort their shipments to Flanders. Injections via BX and CX are currently not possible.

We are continuously and closely monitoring the situation. On Tuesday, we will provide you with a new state of affairs.

We regret this situation and understand the impact on your operation.

Kind regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 09/04/2026

Dear customer,

Following the ongoing trade union actions as part of the transformation Bpost is going through, we would like to briefly inform you about the current situation.

Besides the actions within distribution, the union actions have extended to our sorting centres since yesterday. As a result, the sorting centres in Brussels (BX) and Charleroi (CX) are blocked at times by activists.

To minimise the impact on our services, a temporary adjustment of our operations remains necessary. Injections will for the time being be limited to Antwerp (AX) for customers who traditionally inject there or who can pre-sort their shipments to Flanders.

Injections via BX and CX are currently not possible.

We will continue to monitor the situation and inform you as soon as these measures change.

Kind regards,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 08/04/2026

Dear customer,

We feel it is important to inform you about the union actions as part of the transformation that Bpost is going through. With this transformation, we are preparing for a sustainable future as a logistics partner so that we can continue to respond to your needs in the long term.

Besides the actions in distribution, the activists are targeting sorting centres today. Since today, the sorting centre in Brussels (BX) has been blocked, as well as the centre in Charleroi (CX).

To minimise the impact on our services, we are forced to temporarily adapt our operations.

Specifically, this means that injections are only possible in Antwerp (AX) for the time being:
- Customers who traditionally inject via AX, or
- Customers who can pre-sort their shipments to Flanders.
This means that injections for BX and CX are not possible for the time being.

Home collections and collect in Flanders are as good as possible, within the current context.
Collect in Brussels is only possible where the service is locally assured. In Wallonia , the situation remains unchanged and our collections are severely disrupted, as is distribution.

We understand that you are counting on us and continue to do everything possible to limit the impact of this situation.

As always, your customers will be informed correctly and on time via Track & Trace and the My Bpost app.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to keep you informed of developments.

Kind regards,
Bpost

UPDATE 07/04/2026

Dear customer,

We would like to give you an update on the trade union actions currently taking place in connection with the transformation of Bpost. This transformation is preparing us for a sustainable future as a logistics partner, so that we can continue to meet your needs in the long term.

In Flanders and Brussels, we note that the follow-up of social actions is very locally bound. This does give us enough comfort today to resume receiving shipments from tomorrow. Collections will be restarted from today. Distribution is also planned for your door-to-door advertising, where operations are locally assured.

In Wallonia, our operations remain seriously disrupted, impacting the speed and quality of our service. We ask you to take this into account as much as possible and limit injection for Wallonia. Shipments entering our system are at risk of being stocked, with obviously limited guarantees on timing of delivery. Our collect activities are also severely disrupted. For door-to-door advertising scheduled by the end of this week, delivery is not guaranteed. For Campaigns scheduled from early next week, we are monitoring the situation day by day. Submission remains possible, but with no guarantee of timing of distribution. If you wish, you can reschedule your campaign to a later date.

Your end customers will continue to be informed correctly and on time via Track & Trace and the My Bpost app. We will keep you further informed of developments and let you know when normal collection and distribution for Wallonia can be resumed.

Kind regards,

Your Bpost team

UPDATE 03/04/2026

Dear customer,

We feel it is important to inform you about the trade union actions as part of the transformation with which Bpost continues to build a strong and sustainable logistics partner in the future.

Meanwhile, the actions have spread further to Limburg and Brussels. As our sorting centre in Brussels is also currently impacted, the collection and distribution of your letters and parcels in Flanders and Brussels has been disrupted.

To limit further impact on our services and keep our network manageable, we are forced to take the following measure:

we ask you not to inject any more shipments into our network until Wednesday 8 April 7am. So this means that there will be no collection from tomorrow until Tuesday.

With this measure, we are making every effort to avoid saturation of the network and maintain minimum throughput. In this way, we are creating the best conditions to restart our entire network quickly and smoothly once the actions are over.

We understand that this decision has a major impact on your operations and we sincerely apologise for this. Please be assured that we are doing everything possible to minimise the impact on you and your customers. Within this framework, social consultations are currently ongoing, with the aim of reaching sustainable solutions as soon as possible.

As always, we will keep your end customers informed correctly and on time via Track & Trace and the My Bpost app.

We will keep you informed as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and trust,
Your Bpost team

UPDATE 1/4/2026

We would hereby like to give you an update on the local actions currently taking place as part of the transformation Bpost is going through.

With this transformation we are preparing Bpost for a sustainable future as a strong logistics expert. This will enable us to continue to meet your needs in the long term, in a context of falling letter volumes and growing expectations in the parcels market.

Collection and distribution of shipments in Flanders and Brussels continue to run normally.

In Wallonia, collection and distribution of all mailings is currently severely disrupted. In addition, we would like to point out that parcels injected for Wallonia in the coming days cannot be delivered until next week at the earliest. For communication campaigns involving door-to-door advertising and Direct Mail, we cannot guarantee delivery within the chosen deadlines, neither this week nor next week.

We are fully aware of the impact these measures will have on your business and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.

We are doing all we can to minimise the impact by closely monitoring flows and continuously adjusting our operations.

Your end customers will continue to be informed correctly and on time via Track & Trace and the My Bpost app.
We will keep you further informed of developments and let you know when normal collection and distribution for Wallonia can be resumed.

Kind regards,
The Bpost team

UPDATE 30/3/2026

Dear customer,

Since this morning, unannounced, local actions have been taking place in certain regions in the south of the country. These actions are related to the transformation Bpost is going through to adapt our organisation to declining letter volumes and growing expectations in the parcels market.

Due to this situation, the collection and distribution of your letters and parcels may be disrupted in these regions.

Consultations with social partners will take place on 1 April, and the possible impact in the coming days will partly depend on how the actions and consultations evolve.

Every effort will be made to handle any disruption as best as possible and to guarantee the continuity of our services.
Your customers will continue to be informed correctly and on time via Track & Trace and the My Bpost app.

The situation is being closely monitored and we will keep you further informed of developments.

We are of course at your disposal for all your questions and thank you for your understanding.

Kind regards,
The Bpost team
