Epu 2021

Epu 2021 is the second wine of Almaviva, made in Puente Alto in Chile's Maipo Valley. The name Epu means two in the Mapuche language, a clear reference to its position within the estate. For the 2021 vintage, the blend is led by cabernet sauvignon at 80%, supported by 15% carménère and 5% merlot.
Its appeal lies in the close relationship with Almaviva itself. Epu comes from the same vineyard environment, mainly from younger vines, giving it a more approachable expression while keeping the cabernet-driven identity of Puente Alto. Twelve months in French barriques, with only a modest proportion of new oak, help frame the ripe fruit and savoury spice without pushing the wine into a heavier style.
The 2021 growing season brought its own nuance. (…)Vina Almaviva 2019

Vina Almaviva 2019 is a dry red wine from Puente Alto in Chile's Maipo Valley and represents the main Almaviva wine, not the second wine Epu. It comes from the Franco-Chilean partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro, combining a Bordeaux-inspired approach with a distinctly Chilean setting.
Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by a significant share of Carménère, together with Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. That mix gives the wine a classical structure while keeping a clear link to Chile, especially through the Carménère component.
The 2019 vintage was warm and dry in Puente Alto. According to Almaviva, the smaller berries brought strong colour and flavour concentration, while (…)Vina Almaviva 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Almaviva 2019 in magnum is a Chilean red wine with a clear Bordeaux-inspired identity. It comes from Puente Alto in the Maipo Valley and is produced by Viña Almaviva S.A., the partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the 2019 blend, supported by Carménère, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and a small proportion of Merlot.
Its origin is central to the wine's personality. The vineyards sit on the northern bank of the Maipo River, around 650 metres above sea level at the foot of the Andes. Poor, stony alluvial soils, good drainage and cool Andean breezes are highlighted by the producer as important factors in preserving acidity while building colour and aromatic concentration.

Almaviva EPU 2019 is the second wine of Almaviva, made in the Bordeaux tradition of releasing a second selection from the same estate background. The name EPU means two in the Mapuche language, neatly reflecting its role alongside Almaviva's first wine.
Cabernet Sauvignon clearly leads the blend, supported by Carménère, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from Puente Alto in Chile's Maipo Valley, at the foot of the Andes, where stony poor soils, cool nights and moderate summer days help slow ripening and aromatic concentration. The wine spent around twelve months in French barriques previously used for Almaviva's first wine.

Vina Almaviva EPU 2020 is the second wine of Almaviva, the Franco-Chilean project founded in 1997 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro. EPU means two, yet this is far more than a simple secondary label: it comes from the same Puente Alto setting in Maipo Valley and clearly reflects a Cabernet Sauvignon-led identity.
The 2020 blend is built around Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Carménère, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Its fruit comes from younger vines within the Almaviva terroir, in a higher-altitude area at the foot of the Andes, where stony, well-drained alluvial soils help shape colour, ripeness and freshness. The warm, dry 2020 vintage brought an early harvest and a riper, more concentrated expression.
