Le Comte de Malartic Lagraviere 2020 is the white second wine of Château Malartic-Lagravière in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. The 2020 vintage is a noteworthy one for this cuvée, as the former La Réserve de Malartic was released under the name Le Comte de Malartic Blanc from this vintage onwards.The blend is 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, giving it a classic dry white Bordeaux identity: aromatic lift and precision from Sauvignon, with Sémillon adding a rounder, more textured dimension. The grapes were harvested by hand in successive selections, followed by fermentation in oak barrels and 12 months of ageing on the lees in French oak, with bâtonnage.
At the estate, 2020 was an early vintage, shaped by a changeable spring and a warm, dry summer. Malartic-Lagravière describes its white wines from the year as pure, precise, fragrant and carried by freshness. About CH MALARTIC LAGRAVIERE
Château Malartic-Lagravière is a well-known wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Pessac-Lëognan appellation, part of Graves. The château has a history dating back to the eighteenth century, having known several owners before the Bonnie family took over the estate in 1997. The vineyards cover around 53 hectares and are planted with classic Bordeaux grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for red, and Sauvignon Blanc, Sëmillon with a small proportion of Muscadelle for white. Château Malartic-Lagravière belongs to the select group of Graves vineyards that achieved cru classé status for both red and white during the 1953 classification (revised in 1959).
