Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge 2020 is the second red wine of Château Smith Haut Lafitte from Pessac-Léognan in Bordeaux. In this 1.5 litre magnum format, it feels very much like a wine for the table: generous enough to share, yet still shaped by the structure and precision associated with the estate.The 2020 blend is 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot, so the cabernet character is clearly present. The grapes are selected from the château's own harvest, with careful work in the cellar: double sorting, fermentation of uncrushed grapes, extraction by pigeage and/or remontage, followed by 14 months in barriques. Around 20% of the barrels are new, and the casks are made in the château's own cooperage.

Smith Haut Lafitte is a winery from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, south of the city of Bordeaux. The estate has a history dating back to the 14th century, but the name Smith Haut Lafitte became known in the 18th century thanks to the Scottish merchant George Smith, who acquired the estate and linked his name to it. Today, the Château is owned by Daniel and Florence Cathiard, who have been managing it since 1990. Smith Haut Lafitte produces both red and white wines, with the reds generally made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and the whites mainly from Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris.
