Château Carbonnieux Blanc 2022 Magnum is the dry white grand vin of Château Carbonnieux in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. The magnum indication refers to the 1.5-litre bottle size, not to a separate cuvée, and gives this Grand Cru Classé de Graves white a particularly generous table presence.For the 2022 vintage, the blend is 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Sémillon. Sauvignon brings aromatic drive and freshness, while Sémillon is described by the estate as adding roundness, volume and structure. The grapes come from the estate's Garonne gravel soils with clay and limestone, and Carbonnieux works plot by plot from vineyard through to the end of barrel ageing.
The year was early and warm, with low yields and small, concentrated grapes. For the white varieties, preserving freshness was essential. The grapes were hand-harvested early, carefully selected, gently pressed and fermented in oak vessels of different sizes. Ageing then took place for ten months in barriques and foudres, with 25% new oak and bâtonnage on the lees.

About CH CARBONNIEUX
Château Carbonnieux is a French winery located in the Graves region, south of Bordeaux, and is known as one of the oldest wine chateaux in this area. The estate has a history dating back to the 13th century, when the property was managed by Benedictine monks. In modern times, it is owned by the Perrin family, who have been actively managing and developing the château since the mid-20th century. Château Carbonnieux produces both red and white wines, something quite unique within the classification of the Grands Crus Classés de Graves from 1959, where the chateau belongs to the select group permitted to produce both wine colors. The red wines are made from classic Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. For the white wine, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are mainly used, resulting in fresh, aromatic, and often mineral wine styles. The winery works with a combination of tradition and modern techniques, with attention to quality and an expression of the unique terroir of the vineyards surrounding the chateau. Château Carbonnieux enjoys international recognition and offers both age-worthy and pleasantly young-drinking wines within their range.
