Are you a rum lover, a loyal fan of Plantation (excuse me, Planteray), or simply curious about what's going on in beverage land? Then be sure to read on!
A new name since 9 January
9 January this year marked an important moment in the history of this leading brand, as on that day, not only was the newest rum variant - Planteray Cut & Dry - presented, but also the transformation of the brand name from Plantation Rum to Planteray Rum was announced. From January 2024, bottles bearing the Planteray Rum name will be available worldwide, with each market making its own gradual transition from the old name to the new one.

Why the name change from Plantation to Planteray?
This name change didn't happen overnight. Initial discussions around this new name were started years ago. Back in July 2020, the brand announced to change the name, recognising that the term 'plantation' carried potentially negative connotations, especially because of its links to dark historical realities. So the Plantation name had been under discussion for quite some time, but received considerably more attention during the Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020.
According to the owner and master blender of Maison Ferrand, Alexandre Gabriel, the new name is a tribute to sugarcane, the plant that produces the essence of rum, and the sun's rays that are crucial for the growth and maturation of sugarcane. The choice of Planteray is more than just a new brand name; it reflects a deeper connection to the natural elements that influence the production process of this rum.
Although the new name has been officially launched, for now you can still find the familiar Plantation Rum in our webshop. The transition to Planteray Rum will be very gradual, giving fans of the brand time to get used to the revamped identity.

As a creative jack-of-all-trades in the marketing world, I also bring that imaginative flair to my drink choices. Whether on a night out, sunny vacation or social gathering with girlfriends, I'm always in my element with a refreshing cocktail in hand. Cocktails have stolen my heart because of the endless possibilities to experiment and explore. My favorite cocktail of the moment is the "Lazy Red Cheeks"! A delicious cocktail using vodka as a base. I love vodka because it mixes perfectly with non-alcoholic drinks. My favorite spirit? Rum!
