Château Meyney 2019 is the grand vin of Château Meyney from Saint-Estèphe, on Bordeaux's Left Bank. The estate's continuous vineyard sits on well-draining gravel and pebble soils above the Gironde, with a vein of blue clay beneath, a setting that helps frame the wine's structured Médoc character.The 2019 blend brings together cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. The petit verdot is a particularly meaningful part of the Meyney identity, coming from old massal-selection vines planted in the 1950s and used here in a clearly noticeable proportion. The grapes were carefully sorted, vinified by vat with gentle extraction, and matured for 18 months in French oak barriques, partly new.
The château describes 2019 as a great, sun-filled vintage, with healthy, rich grapes and a fine balance between sugar and acidity. In the glass, that translates into a Saint-Estèphe with ripe dark fruit, firm structure and freshness running through the wine. The estate has a history dating back to the 17th century, making it one of the older wineries in the area. Chateau Meyney currently covers about 51 hectares of vineyard, mainly planted with grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a smaller proportion of Petit Verdot.
