New Grove 1969 Old

On request only

New Grove 1969 Old is the kind of rum where the date does much of the talking. Distilled in 1969 in Mauritius, made from molasses and produced in a traditional column style, it places the focus on origin and vintage rather than on a broad, modern rum recipe.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, bottles like this naturally stand apart, especially when only the last bottles remain. The 47% strength gives it a serious presence, while the available profile points clearly toward wood and fruit, with spice in a supporting role. It is a rum to approach slowly, with the vintage at the centre of the conversation.

In stock

Fiji 2004 17y Eli Yard is a molasses rum with a very clearly defined identity. Distilled in Fiji in 2004 and bottled in 2022, it spent 17 years maturing before being released by Elizabeth Yard as part of its single cask range. It comes from one hogshead and was bottled at cask strength, at 52.7% ABV.

The appeal here lies in the precision of the release. One cask, only 250 bottles, and now marked as last bottles. Within the selection at Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of rum that speaks to drinkers who enjoy limited bottlings with a clear sense of origin and maturation rather than a broad, blended style.

The rum was produced using pot still and column distillation, giving it an additional point of interest for anyone exploring Fiji rum in more detail. (…)

Its bourbon barrel maturation supports a style that feels more composed than exuberant. The profile points to noticeable wood and fruit, with lighter touches of spice and floral character in the background. Mount Gay 2007 Last Ward Hab (Habitation Velier)

On request only

Mount Gay 2007 Last Ward Hab is a Barbados molasses rum with a firmly defined personality. Distilled in 2007, aged for 10 years and bottled at a cask strength of 59%, it is clearly made for those who appreciate rum with weight and directness rather than a soft, sweet-led style.

The pot still distillation and bourbon barrel maturation point the rum towards a profile where wood, spice and fruit all have a clear voice. It feels like a release built around structure and presence, with the strength left intact to keep that character close to the cask.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this bottling stands out among the stronger Barbados rums in the selection. With only the last bottles remaining, it is also a release whose availability is becoming increasingly narrow.

Malecon 1976 Esplendida

Malecon 1976 Esplendida is a Cuban molasses rum built around a very clear point of identity: the 1976 distillation year. That gives the bottle a more defined story than a regular house-style rum, with the vintage acting as an important part of its character.

It was distilled in a multicolumn style and matured in bourbon cask. The flavour profile points to fruit and wood as the main elements, with spice and sweetness playing a more restrained supporting role. Rather than presenting itself as a heavily sweet rum, it sits closer to a mature, cask-influenced style with a fruity core.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a rum for people who enjoy a bottle with a little more context in the glass. The appeal lies in the combination of Cuban origin, a specific (…)

Belize 2007 11y For The Nectar from Transcontinental Rum Line is a focused single cask molasses rum from Belize. Distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2018 after 11 years of maturation, it captures one specific cask rather than the broader style of a large blended batch.

Its maturation in a bourbon cask gives the wood influence a clear place in the profile, alongside a pronounced fruity side. Bottling at cask strength, 48.2%, keeps the presentation direct, while the traditional column distillation underlines its structured style. Guyana 1993 (1423 Single Barrel Selection)

In stock

Guyana 1993 from 1423 Rum World Class is built around a very focused idea: one cask, one origin, and a long period of maturation. Distilled from molasses in 1993 using a traditional column still, it was bottled in August 2023 after 30 years of ageing.

Its ex-Bourbon cask maturation gives the rum an important part of its identity, while the bottling strength of 59.2% keeps it close to the cask. It has not been chill-filtered and no additives were used, so the expression remains direct and unpolished in the best sense. With only 136 bottles produced, and the last bottles now available, this is a very small single cask release.

Distilled in 2001 and bottled in February 2021, it spent 19 years maturing before being presented under the 1423 Rum World Class name. Its appeal lies in the details that all point in the same direction: one single cask, bourbon cask maturation, cask strength bottling and only 178 bottles produced. With the final bottles now in play, this is less a regular range item and more a specific snapshot of one cask at one moment in time.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as the kind of rum that speaks to drinkers who enjoy provenance and concentration rather than broad, polished (…)

Dictador 18y

In stock

Dictador 18y is a Colombian rum shaped by its Caribbean-coast origin and the tropical ageing conditions of Cartagena. Made from virgin sugar cane honey, it sits on the more mature side of Dictador's house style: still smooth in feel, but with added depth from long ageing in oak.

The use of bourbon barrels gives the rum a firm woody frame while leaving room for fruit, dark chocolate tones and gentle spice. It is bottled at 40%, with a character that feels rounded rather than heavy, and mature without losing the softness associated with Dictador.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a strong choice for anyone who enjoys the polished Dictador style but wants a more developed expression. The bottle's holographic label also underlines the brand's contemporary (…)

Patridom Gran Reserva Cask Strength 50cl

Patridom Gran Reserva Cask Strength shows the Dominican rum style in a more forceful form. Bottled at 57.5%, it keeps its cask strength, giving the spirit a concentrated presence without relying on an age statement.

Maturation in American and European oak brings a gentle thread of wood and spice, while the profile remains clearly fruit-led. The multicolumn distillation points towards a clean, defined style, with the higher strength adding weight and impact.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Patridom release we would place in front of someone looking for a bolder rum experience rather than a standard easy-going bottle. The 50 cl format and the indication that only the last bottles remain make it a less everyday appearance on the shelf.

Malecon 1979 Esplendida 4,5l

Last one in stock!

Malecon 1979 Esplendida 4.5l is a Cuban rum with an immediate sense of presence, partly because of its 1979 vintage reference and partly because of the generous bottle size. It is made from molasses, distilled in a traditional column style and bottled at 40% alcohol.

The bourbon cask element gives this release a wood-driven side, while the supplied flavour profile also points clearly towards spice and fruit. Its sweetness is more restrained, so the impression is not built around sugariness alone.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as the kind of rum that stands apart from the everyday shelf: Cuban in origin, vintage-led in identity and presented in a 4.5 litre format that makes it particularly striking to serve or share.

What makes this release especially interesting is its single cask nature and its Bordeaux finish in a red wine cask from Despagne. That finishing detail gives the rum a distinctive frame: the profile points towards wood, spice and fruit as the main elements, with sweetness playing a quieter supporting role.

The bourbon barrel maturation and cask strength bottling at 60% place it among the more powerful and serious Appleton releases.
