Product info about Chateau Durfort Vivens 2022
Château Durfort-Vivens 2022 is the Grand Vin of a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé estate in Margaux, in the Médoc. The wine comes from vineyards in Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans, planted on deep gravel soils with a sand and clay matrix. It is very much a Cabernet-led Bordeaux, shaped by its Margaux origin.The blend is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Merlot. Each parcel was vinified separately, using indigenous yeasts and a gentle extraction approach. Ageing lasted 18 months, with 70% in new oak barriques and 30% in TAVA amphorae. That combination is one of the defining details of this wine: the structure of new oak, alongside an élevage where amphora plays a meaningful role.

Durfort-Vivens combines its 1855 classification with organic and biodynamic certification, and the 2022 vintage is described by the producer as bringing together power, density and length with elegance and energy.
The producer indicates drinking from 2027, with a peak around 2042, and recommends decanting for 1 to 2 hours at a serving temperature of 16 to 18 °C. With only the last bottles available, this vintage has an added sense of focus for anyone building a serious Margaux selection.

Chateau Durfort-Vivens is a French winery located in the Margaux appellation, in the Bordeaux region. The domaine has a long history that dates back to the 17th century and received its current name after being acquired by the Vivens family in the 19th century. Today, Chateau Durfort-Vivens is owned by Gonzague Lurton, who has continued the winery in the Bordeaux tradition with an emphasis on respect for the terroir. The vineyards are located mainly on gravel-rich soils, which is typical for Margaux and contributes to the elegant style of the wines.
