Chateau Durfort Vivens 2019 is the grand vin of Château Durfort-Vivens in Margaux, a dry red Bordeaux shaped above all by Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate is a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification and works with organic and biodynamic certification, including Demeter. That combination gives the wine a very classical Bordeaux identity, but with a clearly deliberate approach in the vineyard.
The 2019 blend is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. Its fruit comes from deep gravel soils within the Margaux appellation, including parcels in Margaux, Cantenac, Soussans and Arsac. The growing season brought its share of challenges, with spring frost concerns, June rain and then a warm, dry summer, yet the château describes the finished (…)Chateau Durfort Vivens 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Château Durfort Vivens 2019 Magnum brings Margaux to the table with real presence. This is the estate's grand vin, from a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification, with vineyards in Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans. The 1.5 litre magnum is not a separate cuvée, but it does give the 2019 vintage a more ceremonial feel.
Cabernet Sauvignon leads the wine clearly: the blend is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. That explains the focus on freshness, tension, dark fruit and firm but refined structure. Château Durfort-Vivens works biodynamically, with the estate linking this approach to its Demeter certification in 2016, and the 2019 vintage is described as coming from biodynamically grown grapes.
The winemaking was (…)Chateau Durfort Vivens 2020

Château Durfort-Vivens 2020 is a red Margaux with real Bordeaux pedigree. It is the grand vin of a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, drawn from vineyards in the Margaux appellation, including parcels in Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans. Deep gravel soils with sand and clay provide the setting for a wine led by cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot.
The estate is certified organic and biodynamic, and the 2020 vintage reflects a very parcel-focused way of working. Lots were vinified separately with native yeasts and gentle extraction, using one daily pump-over. Maturation lasted 18 months in a combination of 70% new oak barrels and 30% TAVA terracotta amphorae, bringing together structure from the oak and preservation of aroma and (…)Chateau Durfort Vivens 2020 Demi (37,5cl)

The 2020 blend is led by cabernet sauvignon with merlot in support. The fruit comes from the château's vineyards in Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans, planted on deep gravel soils with sandy to clay subsoils. Durfort-Vivens works organically and biodynamically, a direction that has become an important part of the estate's place among the classified growths of Margaux.
The winemaking was carried out parcel by parcel, with natural yeasts and restrained extraction. Ageing lasted 18 months, (…)Chateau Durfort Vivens 2020 Magnum (1,5l)

Chateau Durfort Vivens 2021 is the Grand Vin of Château Durfort-Vivens in Margaux, a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification. What immediately stands out in this vintage is the blend: 97% cabernet sauvignon with just 3% merlot. That gives the wine a very clear cabernet identity, shaped by the finesse and restraint associated with Margaux.
The 2021 vintage is described as a cooler, demanding year for winemaking rather than a warm, opulent Bordeaux vintage. That comes through in the style of the wine: fresh, precise and firmly structured. The grapes come from vineyards in Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans, planted on deep gravel soils with sand and clay. Since the 2016 vintage, the estate's wines have been certified organic and biodynamic.

That high Cabernet proportion gives the wine its firm line, freshness and architectural structure.
The vintage came from a cooler, more demanding growing season than the warmer years before it. Instead of broad ripeness, the emphasis here is on precision, tension and aromatic clarity. The wine was vinified parcel by parcel with native yeasts and gentle extraction, then matured for 18 months in a combination of new oak barrels and TAVA amphorae. Château Durfort-Vivens 2022 is the Grand Vin of a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé estate in Margaux, in the Médoc. The wine comes from vineyards in Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans, planted on deep gravel soils with a sand and clay matrix. It is very much a Cabernet-led Bordeaux, shaped by its Margaux origin.
The blend is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Merlot. Each parcel was vinified separately, using indigenous yeasts and a gentle extraction approach. Ageing lasted 18 months, with 70% in new oak barriques and 30% in TAVA amphorae. That combination is one of the defining details of this wine: the structure of new oak, alongside an élevage where amphora plays a meaningful role.
