Tenuta Di Nozzole La Forra Chianti Classico Riserva Sangiovese 2021

La Forra is the historic Chianti Classico Riserva from Tenuta di Nozzole, the Greve in Chianti estate owned by the Folonari family since 1971. The wine comes from the La Forra area within the Chianti Classico DOCG and is made from Sangiovese. First produced in 1980, it has become one of the estate's defining wines.
The vineyards sit at around 300 to 330 metres above sea level on loam and clay soils. For the 2021 vintage, the producer describes a warm, dry summer followed by sunny, breezy September and October conditions with cool nights. That slower final ripening is important here, because the wine carries ripe fruit while retaining the structure expected from a serious Riserva.
Fermentation took place in stainless steel, with around four weeks of (…)Domaine Charlopin Tissier Marsannay Les Longeroies 2022 Red

Domaine Charlopin Tissier Marsannay Les Longeroies 2022 is a red Burgundy from Marsannay in the Côte de Nuits, made entirely from Pinot Noir. Its origin matters here: Les Longeroies is one of the notable lieux-dits of Marsannay and is mentioned among the climats considered for possible future Premier Cru classification.
Domaine Charlopin Tissier was founded in 2013 by Yann Charlopin and Justine Tissier. The estate works on a small scale, with a clear focus on individual Marsannay sites. For this cuvée, a product-specific source notes that the vineyard was planted in 2015, on limestone or clay-limestone soils associated with the northern Côte de Nuits.
The winemaking is shaped around clarity and detail: full destemming, a cold soak before (…)Domaine Charlopin Tissier Marsannay La Montagne 2022 Red

Domaine Charlopin Tissier Marsannay La Montagne 2022 is a red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir, rooted in a very specific site within the Marsannay appellation. La Montagne sits high in the appellation, above Les Longeroies and close to the forest edge. That cooler setting is an important part of the wine's identity, giving it freshness, lively fruit and a fine rather than heavy structure.
The domaine was founded in 2013 by Yann Charlopin and Justine Tissier and works a small Burgundian holding of around four hectares, with parcels in places such as Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Vosne-Romanée and Pernand-Vergelesses. This cuvée comes from a small parcel of about 0.46 hectare within the La Montagne climat, so it naturally belongs to the more (…)Quinta Do Vesuvio 2021

Quinta Do Vesuvio 2021

Quinta do Vesuvio 2021 is a dry red wine from Portugal's Douro Superior, produced at Quinta do Vesúvio. It is the estate's flagship dry Douro red, alongside the Vintage Ports for which the property is historically known. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see it as a serious, structured Douro wine shaped as much by its site as by the notably cool 2021 growing season.
The blend is led by Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional, with a small addition of Tinta Amarela. The grapes were hand-harvested, carefully sorted and moved by gravity into small fermentation tanks. After fermentation, extended maceration helped build structure and mouthfeel, followed by 15 months in French oak barrels, a large proportion of them new.
What makes the 2021 vintage especially (…)Domaine Charlopin Tissier Bourgogne Montre Cul 2022

Domaine Charlopin Tissier Bourgogne Montre Cul 2022 is a French red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir. Its interest lies in the place behind the label: Montre-Cul, a vineyard area near Dijon at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits, used here as a named origin within the regional Bourgogne appellation.
For this cuvée, the fruit is linked to a small estate parcel on the upper part of the slope, with sandy clay-limestone soil and vines averaging 20 to 30 years old. That setting helps explain the style described for the wine: a soft, elegant Bourgogne Pinot Noir from a cooler, higher-lying site around Dijon.
The cellar work is deliberately restrained. The grapes are fully destemmed, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts at low temperature (…)Connetable Talbot 2022 Magnum (1,5l)

Connetable Talbot 2022 Magnum is the second wine of Château Talbot from Saint-Julien in the Médoc. It offers a way into the character of a classified Bordeaux estate, with the clarity and structure associated with the left bank, presented in a style that is closer to approachability than the estate's grand vin.
For the 2022 vintage, the blend is led by cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot. The fruit comes from Château Talbot's vineyards on Médoc gravel soils. Harvesting was carried out by hand, followed by successive selections, then vinification in stainless steel tanks and full ageing in barriques.
The 1.5 litre magnum format gives this Saint-Julien a generous table presence. At Drankenshop Broekmans, it sits comfortably among (…)Cantina Sardus Pater Arruga Carignano Del Sulcis Superiore 2020

Cantina Sardus Pater Arruga Carignano del Sulcis Superiore 2020 is a Sardinian red wine made entirely from Carignano. It comes from Sant'Antioco in the Sulcis area of south-west Sardinia, where old vines grow close to sea level on sandy soils. That very specific island setting is central to the wine's identity.
The name Arruga means road or street in Sardinian, referring to the white road that leads to the vineyard. The wine itself is built with considerable care: alberello-trained vines with an average age of around 80 years, fermentation in stainless steel, full malolactic fermentation in barriques, then 12 months in Allier oak barriques followed by 12 months of bottle ageing.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a Sardinian red with substance and a (…)Campo Al Mare Petit Verdot 2020

Campo Al Mare Petit Verdot 2020 is a red Toscana IGT from Tenuta Campo al Mare, the coastal Tuscan estate of Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari in the Bolgheri area. Petit Verdot ripens here in a warm setting moderated by winds from the Tyrrhenian Sea, giving the wine a dark, concentrated and firmly structured personality.
The 2020 vintage is made entirely from Petit Verdot selected from the estate's best vineyards. It was a relatively regular growing year, without an extremely hot summer, and the grapes were harvested in the third ten days of September. Fermentation took place in stainless steel with around 30 days of maceration, followed by roughly 20 to 24 months in 225-litre French oak barriques, half new and half one year old, plus bottle ageing.

Cantine Sardus Pater Is Arenas Carignano del Sulcis Riserva 2019 is a Sardinian red wine with a very clear sense of origin. Is Arenas means the sands in Sardinian, a direct reference to the sandy soils of Sant'Antioco, where the Carignano grapes are grown at sea level.
The wine is made entirely from Carignano, sourced from old ungrafted bush vines with an average age of around 80 years. That background gives this Riserva a more concentrated, structured expression within the Carignano del Sulcis DOC. Fermentation takes place in steel, followed by maturation for 12 months in Allier barriques and a further 12 months of bottle ageing.

Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion 2020 is a red Bordeaux from Pessac-Léognan, made by Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion. Usually positioned as the château's second wine or complementary cuvée, it still carries a strong sense of origin and vintage, especially in a year described by the estate as focused on precision and tannin structure.
The blend is 60% cabernet sauvignon, 39% merlot and 1% petit verdot. The grapes were hand-harvested, left uncrushed, and a portion was vinified as whole bunches. Ageing took place in foudres and oak barrels, with only a limited share of new oak, followed by time in cement vat. That approach keeps the oak in a supporting role rather than letting it dominate the wine.

Tenuta La Fuga Brunello di Montalcino 2019 is a dry red wine from Tuscany, produced at Tenuta La Fuga by Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute. It comes from Montalcino, within the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, and carries the composed, structured style one expects from a serious Sangiovese-based wine from this area.
The grapes come from the estate's own vineyards southwest of Montalcino, on the historic Camigliano side, at around 350 metres above sea level. The producer points to the medium clay soils with abundant stony material and the south-western exposure towards the Tyrrhenian Sea as elements that help shape the phenolic structure of the Sangiovese.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with a skin maceration of about four weeks, followed by long (…)Zeni Amarone Valpolicella Barrique 2019

Zeni Amarone Valpolicella Barrique 2019 is a dry red Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG from the Valpolicella Classica area, the hills north of Verona. Made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, it is very much in the fuller Amarone tradition: concentrated, structured and generous, with 16% alcohol giving the wine its unmistakable weight.
The style is shaped long before the wine reaches barrel. The best bunches are hand-selected and dried for around four months in small crates, concentrating sugars, extract, aromas and glycerine. After fermentation on the skins and an extended maceration, the wine matures in French oak barriques, adding a clear layer of vanilla, cocoa and spice to the richness of the fruit.

Alter Ego 2020

Alter Ego 2020 comes from Margaux and carries the signature of Château Palmer, but from a deliberately different angle. Introduced from the 1998 vintage, Alter Ego is presented by the estate as another interpretation of the same Palmer terroir, with an emphasis on suppleness, ripe aromatic expression and fruit that can be approached earlier than the grand vin.
The 2020 blend is 50% cabernet sauvignon, 46% merlot and 4% petit verdot. That balance says a great deal about the wine: merlot brings ripeness and flesh, cabernet sauvignon provides structure and depth, while petit verdot adds a spicy accent. The grapes come from Château Palmer's estate vineyards in Margaux, on gravel terraces near the Gironde, where the soils are well drained, poor in organic matter and (…)Clos De L'Oratoire 2019

Clos de l'Oratoire 2019 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Emilion, from the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation and classified as Grand Cru Classé. The 2019 vintage is built around 81% Merlot with 19% Cabernet Franc, giving the wine a generous Merlot core while retaining the aromatic lift, structure and length associated here with Cabernet Franc.
The estate sits on the north-eastern slope of Saint-Emilion, with clay-limestone, molasse de Fronsac and clay-sand soils across its vineyards. For this vintage, the wine spent 30 days in cuvaison with extraction by pneumatic pigeage, followed by 16 months on fine lees in barriques, 50% of them new oak. It was bottled at the château in May 2021 without fining.

The fruit is sourced from vineyards in the Castelnuovo Calcea-Mombercelli zone, connected to Tenuta La Court. The name Cipressi refers to the cypress trees on the hilltops, a small but telling link between the wine and its landscape. The vineyards sit at about 230 to 280 metres, with soils made up of Astian sands and Sant'Agata Fossili marls, including clay, limestone, silt, sand and marine-derived elements.

The 2014 blend is built from 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. After a difficult start to the growing season, the vintage benefited from an exceptional late summer, particularly helpful for later-ripening varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.

Domaine Charlopin Tissier Marsannay Red 2022 is a red Burgundy from Marsannay, at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it sits firmly in the village-wine tradition: expressive, fresh and focused more on finesse and texture than on weight.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Marsannay we like to introduce when someone wants Burgundy with clarity rather than heaviness. The Pinot Noir is described as organically farmed, without the wine being presented as certified organic. In the cellar, cold maceration and native yeasts are used, with a slow élevage on fine lees supporting a pure, fruit-led style.
The 2022 vintage is noted as warm and generous in the Côte de Nuits, and that comes through in the riper (…)Acaibo 2017

Acaibo 2017 is a Sonoma County red wine shaped by a distinctly Bordeaux-minded approach. Gonzague and Claire Lurton bring their Bordeaux background to Chalk Hill, where this estate-bottled wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grown on the property. The style is built around structure, freshness and dark fruit rather than an overtly ripe Californian expression.
The vineyard sits at around 750 feet, between the cooler influence of Russian River and the warmer conditions of Alexander Valley and Knights Valley. Volcanic ash and clay loam soils form the base, while the vineyard is farmed organically with limited irrigation. That combination gives the wine a clear Sonoma origin, handled with notable restraint and precision.

It is made entirely from Nerello Mascalese, from vines with an average age of 80 years, grown at around 950 metres above sea level.
The character of the wine is shaped by altitude, old vines and volcanic ground. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by extended skin contact, maturation in large oak casks, then further ageing in concrete and bottle. The emphasis is not on heavy oak influence, but on the expression of grape, place and vintage.

The fruit comes from a small 2-hectare vineyard with vines of around 80 years old, planted at 950 metres altitude on volcanic soil with a northern exposure. Alberelli di Giodo Nerello Mascalese 2021 is a Sicilian red wine with a clear Etna identity. The name Alberelli refers to the bush-trained vines. They grow between 560 and 850 metres above sea level, on black pumice volcanic soils, in a landscape also marked by olive and fruit trees. Those details are not decorative; they explain much of the wine's personality, from its lively acidity and defined structure to its mineral undertone.

There is a strong sense of place behind this wine. Algueira is connected with the recovery of old terraces on the slopes of Doade and Abeleda, and Dolio comes from some of the estate's better terroirs.
