Château La Croix de Gay 2022 is a red Pomerol from a small 4.2-hectare estate in the hamlet of Pignon. The blend is firmly led by Merlot, with 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. The estate places real emphasis on its soils: old gravel over clay, pure blue clay and iron oxides, elements it sees as central to the wine's identity.
The 2022 vintage was shaped by spring frost and summer water stress, reducing production by 35% according to the château. The grapes were harvested by hand, and extraction was handled carefully to respect the concentrated but limited crop. That gives the wine its main tension: ripe, concentrated fruit, yet made with the intention of keeping the Pomerol origin clearly visible.
