Alter Ego 2020

Alter Ego 2020 comes from Margaux and carries the signature of Château Palmer, but from a deliberately different angle. Introduced from the 1998 vintage, Alter Ego is presented by the estate as another interpretation of the same Palmer terroir, with an emphasis on suppleness, ripe aromatic expression and fruit that can be approached earlier than the grand vin.
The 2020 blend is 50% cabernet sauvignon, 46% merlot and 4% petit verdot. That balance says a great deal about the wine: merlot brings ripeness and flesh, cabernet sauvignon provides structure and depth, while petit verdot adds a spicy accent. The grapes come from Château Palmer's estate vineyards in Margaux, on gravel terraces near the Gironde, where the soils are well drained, poor in organic matter and (…)Alter Ego 2020 Demi (37,5cl)

Alter Ego 2020 Demi (37,5cl)

Alter Ego de Palmer 2020 is the second red wine of Château Palmer in Margaux, created as a distinct interpretation of the estate rather than a simple afterthought. It comes from the same domaine, but is shaped in a style that is more approachable in youth than the grand vin. The demi format of 37.5 cl makes it especially attractive when you want the experience of a serious Bordeaux without opening a full bottle.
The 2020 blend is led by cabernet sauvignon and merlot, with a small share of petit verdot, all from Château Palmer's vineyards in Cantenac, in the centre of the Margaux appellation. The vines grow on gravel terraces, and the vintage itself was an early and contrasted one, moving from a wet spring to warm, dry conditions before harvest took place between (…)Alter Ego 2020 Magnum (1,5l)

Alter Ego 2020 Magnum shows a different side of Château Palmer in Margaux. It comes from the same estate and the same terroir approach, yet since its introduction in 1998 it has been shaped around fruit, suppleness and earlier approachability rather than mirroring Palmer's Grand Vin.
The 2020 vintage gives this release a more serious frame. The season started early, with a wet spring that required careful vineyard work, followed by warmer and drier conditions. Château Palmer describes the year through sunny merlots, refined yet powerful cabernets and a clear expression of the Margaux terroir. The blend is 50% cabernet sauvignon, 46% merlot and 4% petit verdot, matured for 18 months in wooden barrels.

Alter Ego 2021 comes from Margaux, from Château Palmer's terroir in Cantenac. Since the 1998 vintage, Alter Ego has stood as its own expression alongside the château's grand vin, shaped by the same origin but with its own identity.
The 2021 vintage in Bordeaux was Atlantic and moderate in character, with a cold start, spring frost and disease pressure, followed by a drier period as harvest approached. In this setting, cabernet sauvignon plays a larger role than usual in the blend: 60%, with 32% merlot and 8% petit verdot. That gives Alter Ego 2021 a more classical, structured feel, with freshness, dark fruit, fine tannins and graphite-like definition taking the lead.
Maturation lasted around 20 to 22 months, partly in 225-litre barrels and partly (…)Alter Ego 2021 Demi (37,5cl)

Alter Ego 2021 Demi is the half-bottle format of Alter Ego de Palmer, the other wine of Château Palmer in Margaux. It comes from the same estate and the same Margaux terroir, yet it is shaped with a more supple, fruit-driven and earlier-drinking personality than the grand vin.
The 2021 vintage is especially notable for its cabernet sauvignon-led blend: 60% cabernet sauvignon, 32% merlot and 8% petit verdot. For Alter Ego, that is a particularly high share of cabernet sauvignon, and it suits the fresher, more linear nature of the year. Ageing took place in two stages, with 12 months in barrique followed by 12 months in foudre, giving the wine structure while keeping the Margaux identity clearly in view.

Alter Ego 2022

Alter Ego 2022 is Château Palmer's Margaux interpreted in a deliberately different way from the estate's grand vin. Since the 1998 vintage, Alter Ego has been made as its own expression of the Palmer terroir rather than as a simple remainder selection. In 2022 the blend is 51% merlot, 43% cabernet sauvignon and 6% petit verdot, bringing together ripeness, structure and a discreet spicy accent.
The vintage came from a warm, dry growing season, with smaller berries and skins that contributed a clearly defined tannic frame. Palmer vinifies parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled conical vats. Ageing takes place in two stages: first in 225-litre barrels, less than half of them new, followed by time in large wooden foudres. The result is intended to show fruit (…)Baron De Brane 2017

Baron de Brane 2017 is the second wine of Château Brane-Cantenac in Margaux. It comes from the same estate context as the grand vin, but it is shaped to be more approachable earlier, with emphasis on elegant fruit rather than the firmer, longer-ageing structure of the top wine.
The 2017 blend is led by merlot and cabernet sauvignon, with small additions of cabernet franc and carmenère. It spent 12 months in French oak barriques, including a proportion of new oak, adding polish and depth while keeping the wine's fruit-driven Margaux character in view.
The growing season at Brane-Cantenac was eventful, with spring frost affecting the region, although key plots on the Brane plateau and near Carabin were spared. A cooler summer helped retain (…)Baron De Brane 2017 Magnum (1,5l)

Baron de Brane 2017 is the second wine of Château Brane-Cantenac in Margaux, made by the same estate as the Deuxième Grand Cru Classé. Presented here in a 1.5-litre magnum, it has the presence of a wine meant for the table, while the larger format may develop more slowly than a standard bottle under good cellar conditions.
The 2017 blend combines Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Carménère. It was vinified in wooden vats and stainless-steel tanks, then aged for 12 months in French oak barriques, 30% of them new. That places the wine firmly in the Brane-Cantenac world, with the approachability and estate character expected from its second wine.

Baron de Brane 2022 is the second wine of Château Brane-Cantenac, from Margaux in Bordeaux. Its appeal lies in that connection: it comes from the same estate background as the grand vin, yet is made to be more approachable at an earlier stage.
The 2022 vintage was shaped by an exceptionally dry, warm and sunny growing season, followed by an early harvest. Merlot takes the lead in the blend, supported by cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and a small proportion of petit verdot. That explains much of the wine's feel: the merlot brings roundness and suppleness, while the cabernets add structure, freshness and aromatic definition.
The wine is drawn from specific estate parcels, including terraces with different contributions: one associated with lighter, (…)Baron De Brane 2022 Magnum (1,5l)

Baron de Brane 2022 is the second wine of Château Brane-Cantenac in Margaux, presented here in a 1.5 litre magnum. It shows the estate from a more supple and approachable angle than the grand vin, while still carrying the structure and poise associated with a serious Margaux red.
For this vintage the blend is led by merlot, at 65%, with 30% cabernet sauvignon, 4% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. The selection is linked mainly to plots that bring more elegant, lighter fruit, supported by material that adds structure. Twelve months of oak ageing gives the wine shape, while the emphasis remains on ripe fruit, juiciness and velvety tannins.
The 2022 growing season was warm, dry and sunny, with early harvesting spread over more than a month. Careful (…)Blason D'Issan 2019

The 2019 vintage is made from 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. It carries the signature of a warm year, yet the château also points to warm days and cool nights during ripening, giving the wine ripe aromatics with freshness and tannic structure. The gravel surface soils with deeper clay layers are mentioned by the estate as an important factor during the heat periods of June and July.

Blason d'Issan 2020 is the second wine of Château d'Issan from Margaux in Bordeaux. It is made to be more approachable than the estate's grand vin, while still carrying the identity of the same appellation: selected fruit, parcel-by-parcel work and a classic red Bordeaux frame.
The 2020 blend brings together 57% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. That small share of Petit Verdot is worth noting, as 2020 was the first vintage in which it became part of Blason d'Issan, coming from parcels added to the estate through Pontac-Lynch. It gives this release a specific place in the recent story of the wine.

For the 2021 vintage, the blend is 52% merlot, 46% cabernet sauvignon and 2% petit verdot. That relatively high proportion of merlot gives this release a generous, fruit-led side, while cabernet sauvignon brings shape and structure. The grapes were hand-harvested, vinified parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and matured in barriques with 35% new oak.

Blason D'Issan 2022 is the second wine of Château d'Issan, from the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux. The wine was introduced from 1995 to allow that selection to be made with greater precision.
The 2022 vintage reflects a hot, dry growing season, yet Château d'Issan notes that clay in the subsoil helped retain enough water to preserve freshness in the fruit. Harvest took place entirely in September, from the 15th to the 28th, something the estate mentions as only the third time in its history. The blend is 55% merlot, (…)Chateau Brane Cantenac 2020

Chateau Brane Cantenac 2020 is the Grand Vin of Château Brane-Cantenac, from Margaux in the Médoc. As a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, it carries an important Bordeaux pedigree, yet the real interest here lies in the way the 2020 vintage brings together concentration, freshness and firm architectural structure.
Cabernet sauvignon forms the core of the blend, supported by merlot and small proportions of cabernet franc, carmenère and petit verdot. The wine comes from selected plots, including older vines on the Brane plateau, with deep Quaternary gravel and a more clay-influenced subsoil. Château Brane-Cantenac 2021 is the grand vin of this Margaux estate, a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification. It is a dry red Bordeaux led by cabernet sauvignon, with merlot and small proportions of cabernet franc, carmenère and petit verdot completing the blend.
The 2021 vintage in Margaux was shaped by contrast: frost, spring rain, a rather overcast summer and then a late period of dry weather. At Château Brane-Cantenac, work was adapted parcel by parcel, while the cellar approach focused on gentle extraction. That explains much of the wine's style: freshness, fine tannins and aromatic precision rather than sheer weight.

Chateau Brane Cantenac 2021 Demi is the grand vin of Château Brane-Cantenac in a 37.5 cl half bottle. It is not a separate cuvée, but the same red Margaux from Bordeaux's left bank, produced by an estate classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855.
The 2021 vintage has a more specific story than a simple label might suggest. The château describes it as a year of strong contrasts, with frost, spring rain, a gloomy summer and then a late dry spell. The fruit for this wine comes from the best plots on the Brane plateau, where sandy topsoil, gravel and a deeper clay component help shape the wine's structured yet precise style.

Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot and small proportions of Cabernet Franc, Carménère and Petit Verdot. The fruit came from selected estate parcels, with particular reference to the best parts of the Brane plateau and its clay and gravel soils. The 2021 vintage was marked by contrasts: frost, rain, a muted summer and then a late dry spell. It is a dry red wine and a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 Médoc classification, yet the real interest here lies in how the 2022 vintage expresses depth, ripeness and Margaux precision in the same glass.
Cabernet sauvignon forms the core of the blend, supported by merlot and small proportions of cabernet franc, carmenère and petit verdot. For the grand vin, the estate refers in particular to old-vine parcels on the Brane plateau, planted on gravel soils with clay influence. This Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification is led in 2022 by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and small proportions of Cabernet Franc, Carménère and Petit Verdot. The estate links the character of this vintage closely to old Cabernet Sauvignon vines on the Brane plateau, grown on clay-rich gravel soils that play an important role in the wine's structure.

The estate is based in Macau, close to the border with Margaux, and the 2016 blend is led by cabernet sauvignon, with merlot and a small share of petit verdot adding depth and colour.
The magnum format gives this vintage an extra point of interest. A 1.5 litre bottle generally evolves more slowly than a standard bottle, allowing the dark fruit, tannic frame and oak ageing to settle together over time. French oak barriques bring the familiar Bordeaux accents of cedar, tobacco and restrained spice around ripe cassis and black fruit.
